It isn’t all just banks and chocolate. The largest city in Switzerland, Zurich is also the nation’s main cultural centre. At the more rarified end of the spectrum there’s Zürcher Opernhaus, one of the most famous Opera Houses in Europe, as well as an array of superb theatres. At the more populist end there’s a thriving electronic music scene, lots of highly regarded clubs and the Street Parade, a carnival for techno fans that attracts more than a million people. Add to all this the exclusive shops on the Bahnhofstrasse, fascinating architecture and the lovely setting of mirror-smooth Lake Zurich and you can easily see why Zurich is becoming a more and more popular destination with leisure travellers.
